一、背诵范文法,提高学生的写作能力。
作为英语的学习者来说,通过背诵来熟记一些“公式化的语言”是非常有必要的。专家们认为,背诵不仅能帮助学生加深对文章的理解,使学习者记住优美的语言、词汇,而且能强化语言输入,加深学生对所学语法知识的理解,提高词汇、句型和习惯用语的记忆效果,从而增加语言积累,使其语言输出规范化,背诵还能使学习者在原文基础上创造性地运用文中的词汇表达自己的想法。
二、注意通过阅读,提高学生的写作能力。
阅读与写作两者之间存在相互依赖、相互促进的关系。阅读应该是学习写作的基础和源泉。通过阅读,我们可以比较全面地了解和掌握词语、句型和篇章结构等知识,从而提高写作的技巧和技能。另一方面,写作要求学生用词准确、造句规范、文字连贯,表达思想清楚,因此,写作体现阅读效果,阅读也是提高写作的有效途径。语言阅读“输入”(input)量的不断扩大,必然意味着语言“输出”(output)即写的能力的提高。
三、抓好英语五种基本句型的训练,提高学生的写作能力。
每天让学生记忆一定数量的单词和句型,次日课前让学生以完成句子的形式进行训练检查,在起始阶段的教学中,教师要从简单句的五种基本句型的练习入手,要求学生写出最简单的短句,为以后的英语写作打下坚实的基础。在此基础上,通过合并、改写、一句多译等方式让学生掌握复杂句式的写作。
四、明晰写作过程的四个阶段,提高学生的写作能力。
1.拟定写作话题。教师要有计划,有目的地拟定各种体裁的写作题目,在写作课开始时布置写作任务,阐明写作要求及目标。如果是根据图画,图表或提纲写作,则首先要求学生认真审图表或提纲,分析其中的细节或信息,领会命题者的意图,确定短文的时态和人称。
2.写提纲。指导学生审题后,要求学生围绕作文的立题和要点,边构思边用英语写出每个段落的主题句,理顺逻辑关系,写出关键词,重要细节和内容要点。
3.写初稿。经过审题和列提纲之后,学生开始写作,指导学生有意识地使用固定句式,关联词,将主题句扩展成段落,最后将段落按时完成或逻辑顺序连成一体,形成语意基本连贯的初稿。
4.检查错误。学生完成初稿后,教师要指导学生以下几个方面润色原文。
(1)要点是否齐全,有无遗漏;
(2)开头和结尾是否点题,各要点是否清晰,布局是否合理,格式是否正确,内容是否连贯;
(3)有无主谓不一致,人称,时态,语态,冠词,连接词及名词单复数等语法错误;
(4)有无句型,习语及固定搭配方面的错误;
(5)有无单词拼写,大小写,标点符号方面的错误;
五、创新批改形式,提高学生的写作能力。
教师可以把每个人的文章中的错误集中到一起,板书在黑板上,上课时集中批改文中的错误,然后对号入座,订正自己的错误。还有一种做法,就是鼓励学生走上讲台,把自己的错误板书在黑板上,让其他同学帮助改正。另外教师还可以把好的作文在全班面前展示和朗读,从构思,谋篇布局到语言运用诸方面充分肯定作文的优点,使学生多接触正面的东西,并要求其他的学生与此对照,对自己的作文进行反思评价。
六、使用双解字典,接受英语表达的思维方式。
要求学生尽早使用英汉双解词典甚至英英词典,比较辨别中文含义与英语单词本身所表达的意思的差异。这看似费时费力的做法往往会给学生带来意想不到的收获。
以《朗文词典》为例,整部词典成千上万的词义全部用2000左右常用词汇解释。随意翻开词典的任何一页,找出其中不认识的单词,然后看后面的英文注释。要找不认识的单词,因为在急于知道意思的情况下看注解,印象才深刻。要先学人家怎么表达,再学会自己表达。有的人简单地认为,只要记了单词和语法,就可以高兴怎么表达就怎么表达,这样的人永远学不好英语。记住一个词跟学会使用这个词是两码事。BBC的一个材料上说,英国农民一辈子最常用的、基本上能够表达他所有情感世界和日常生活的词大概不到一千。农民也有喜怒哀乐,在这一点上,一个农民的情感世界跟一个伟大诗人的情感世界是没有什么区别的,而且用简单的语言把复杂的意思表达出来也可谓之伟大。对于一个一时找不着概念的词,应该用一种迂回曲折的方式把意思表达清楚,或用一个短语,或用一个从句,或三言两语,如果没出什么语言错误,达到了让别人理解的目的的话,这也算是一种伟大!因此,在英语写作中,必须摒弃翻译中追求一一对应的关系并机械地把中文译成英文的方法,应该把中文句子结构彻底地忘记,然后用比较简单的“万能”英语表达。平常不妨指导学生做一做这样的练习,通过阅读不认识的词条的英文注解,然后试着把单词译成中文词,再去对照英汉词典的汉语释义,慢慢地学生就会开始领会用英语表达的门道,逐步接受英语表达的思维方式,久而久之才能写出比较地道的英语,少犯甚至不犯Chinese English的错误。
七、丰富英语课外活动,激发学生写作兴趣。
