一、自主学习概念的界定
国内外学者对自主学习有不同的界定，最早开始研究外语自主学习的 Holec将其定义为“对自己学习负责的能力”。［1］他把责任分为静态和动态两种，所谓静态是指学习者本人或在他人的帮助下制订学习计划并按计划实施；所谓动态是指负责学习过程。他还把自主学习能力概括为确定学习目标、确定内容进度、选择方法技巧、监控学习过程、评估学习效果等五个方面。许多研究者把Holec对自主学习的定义视为后来自主学习研究的起点。
在自主学习的定义方面，国内学者徐锦芬等基于国外自主学习研究的大量文献资料以及我国外语教学的特点，提出英语自主学习应该涵盖五方面内容，即了解教师的教学目的与要求、确立学习目标与制订学习计划、有效使用学习策略、监控学习策略的使用情况、监控与评估英语学习过程。［2］可见，国内外学者对自主学习的描述有相似之处。
二、英语自主学习模式的构建
建构主义的最早提出者是瑞士的皮亚杰，他认为儿童的认知结构是通过同化和顺应过程逐步建构起来的，并在“平衡—不平衡—新的平衡”的连续循环中得到不断的丰富、提高和发展。在皮亚杰理论的基础上，维果斯基、布鲁纳、斯腾伯格、卡茨等进一步丰富和完善了建构主义理论。建构主义应用于教育教学领域体现为，学习是一个建构过程，学习者在旧知识的基础之上构建新知识，并加强对新信息和新知识的掌握和理解。既然学习者的学习依赖其原有的知识或经验，那么，教师在教学中就应该考虑学习者的个体差异，因材施教。
基于此，我们强调的自主学习模式将个性化课堂教学和网络自主学习融为一体，在课堂教学中，教师作为引导者、协调者，根据学生的个性需求、学习特点以及知识水平，实施个性化教学，突出学生的主体地位，激发学生的学习主动性和自主性。学生则利用网络自主学习平台，根据教师的教学目标和要求以及自己的学习兴趣和需求，随时随地确立学习目标、制订学习计划、选择学习方法、监控学习过程和评价学习结果，从而实现教学过程中教师和学生“双主体”的教育理念，发挥教师和学生两者的主体能动性，促进教与学的各个环节协调、有效发展。
三、英语自主学习模式的实施
我院根据高职高专人才培养目标和英语教学现状，制定了符合本校学生特点的英语自主学习课程体系，设计出了具有高职特色的英语教学模式，从而指导教学实践，促进高职学生英语实用能力以及综合素质的提高。
（一）实施个性化课堂教学
学习者因受多种因素的影响而存在个体差异，如个性特点、英语水平、学习风格、知识范畴等方面的差异，因此，单一的教学方法无法满足学生的需求，也难以调动学生的学习兴趣和热情，这就要求英语教学要打破传统教学观念的藩篱，改变教师在课堂教学中原有的作用和授课方式，实施个性化英语教学。我院所实施的个性化教学是教师在教学过程中以学生为中心，尊重每一个学生的个体差异，最大限度地发挥学生的潜能，使学生在遵守普遍性原则的前提下，能够按照自己的行为和思想用英语进行交际。在教学手段方面，充分利用网络资源和多媒体技术。在教学方法方面，利用讨论式、启发式、任务型等方式开展教学，使学生动口、动脑、动手，充分发挥他们的主观能动性，引导其主动探究、自主学习。在教学内容方面，将课本知识与学生的现实生活、个人体验以及未来职业相联系，激发学生的内在动力。
（二）创建自主学习中心
目前，我院建设的蓝鸽校园网语言学科平台依托学校的校园网，帮助学生实现“网络化自主学习”和“网络化考试”的目标。每个学生获得独立账号后，可以自由地选择学习内容、安排学习时间、评价学习效果，还可以和教师在线互动，完成教师布置的学习任务。在平台中，教师能够上传资料，丰富学生的学习内容；实现在线布置和批改学生的作业及试卷；在线答疑，与学生互动、交流，建立新型师生关系。然而，高职学生普遍存在自觉性差、自学能力不强、自我监督不严等缺点，因此，我院创建了供学生自主学习的实训中心。首先，学生必须在实训中心完成每周两个课时的实训，在实训课中，专任教师对学生的自主学习现状、学习策略和学习效果等方面给予评价和指导，解决学生在自主学习过程中遇到的困难并收集他们的反馈意见。其次，学生课后去中心上网学习，根据学习时间获得相应的自主学习分值，同时，也能得到实训中心指导教师的辅导，从而提高自主学习的效果。
（三）开展第二课堂活动
英语第二课堂是正规课堂教学的延伸和必要补充，可以为培养学生的自主学习能力和创新能力搭建一个宽阔的平台。我院英语系开展了丰富的第二课堂活动，如英语餐厅、英语商店、英语角、英语文化艺术节、英语演讲班、英语翻译社等。英语餐厅是我院的校内实训基地之一，学生以班级为单位进入餐厅实训，餐厅在每周一至周五的11∶50~12∶30和17∶00~18∶00向全院学生开放，每个时间段由一名值班店长、一名店长助理以及八名服务生负责，他们穿戴统一服装为广大师生提供全英语的餐厅服务。顾客必须用英文和服务生交流，才可以在英语餐厅消费，并享受普通菜价的八折优惠。英语餐厅的实训活动培养了学生的英语综合运用能力，调动了学生的积极性、能动性，锻炼了学生的实际操作能力。
（四）实施综合性评价
评价仅仅只是一种手段，学生的最终全面发展才是我们真正的目的所在。综合性评价方式在促进学生全面发展的过程中起到了一定的推动作用。我院所实施的综合性评价结合了过程性评估和终结性评估，学生的总评成绩由课堂平时成绩、自主学习成绩、技能测试和期末考试组成。课堂平时成绩由学生参与课堂活动的表现决定，占总评成绩的15%；自主学习成绩包括自主浏览和自主作业两项，自主浏览是学生根据自己的学习兴趣自由选择的学习任务，按照学习的时间长度获得相应的分数，自主作业则是学生完成教师布置的在线作业的情况，两部分共占总评成绩的15%；技能测试是教师提供多个主题，学生以小组为单位自由选择内容和呈现方式，在规定的时间内完成主题任务，教师根据学生的任务完成情况、团队合作表现、语言技能的展示等评定成绩，该部分占总评成绩的30%；期末考试采用无纸化机试，是整合了词汇、语法、口语、听力、阅读、写作和翻译各项语言基础和技能的一项综合性网络考试，客观题由考试系统自动评分，主观题由教师在线阅卷批改，该部分占总评成绩的40%。据此，学生可以对自己的学习情况自查、自省，教师也可以从中发现每个学生的闪光点，因材施教，从而提高教学质量。

湖南卫视举办的《超级女声》、《快乐男声》以青春煽情的特点,掀起了一次又一次的收视高峰,周杰伦的一曲《东风破》一夜之间风靡整个校园……同时,依托网络、电脑、手机、电视为载体的流行文化正在冲击着中国中学生的英语课堂,中学生的英语学习正受到现代视听媒体的挑战。青少年崇拜名人,特别是明星偶像的现象已蔚然成风。如何利用流行文化来提高中学生英语素质呢?我想说说我通过流行文化“复活”英语课堂的反思。
【案例背景】
传统的英语课,老师按部就班导入新课,学习字词,读课文,教师提问,学生作答,再做总结练习,刻板、沉闷,没有一点生气。农村英语教学更因学生接触面窄,怯于表达,教师一提问,满座寂然。学生答不出,教师做宣讲,学生一节课都在听,没有一点主动性,英语教学陷入了古板、惹人生烦的局面。学生认为英语课是最无聊、最无用的课。作为一个农村英语教师,我一直在努力改变这种状况。当那次班级演讲总决赛在同学们的欢呼声中结束时,我突然明白了我们的课堂缺什么,应该怎么做。
【案例描述】
去年十月份,我计划在班级组织一次以“Face up to life with smiles(微笑面对生活)”为主题的演讲比赛活动。在设计教学时,突然冒出了用湖南卫视“超级女声”比赛模式组织比赛的想法。“超级女声”在全国的影响,尤其是在青少年中的影响无疑是由比赛的全民性、竞争性、悬念性与人文关怀造成的。我设计了一个“海选”―“复活”―“决赛”的比赛模式。
在第二天的课堂中,我说出了这个想法。不想学生们先是“瞪大了眼睛”,接着便是“欢呼雀跃”,大叫着“太好了!超女,复活,太好了!”学生的这种强烈的反应让我也倍受感染。只有长期在农村教学的教师,才能体会到学生们的这种反应的难能可贵,以及他们的反应中折射出的长久的压抑。
第二课时进行“海选”。将47人分成6组,每组人员轮流用英语演讲,组员推选出一名学生进入决赛。如果小组内有难分秋色的情况,落选的一人可以复活。海选后没想到每组都有要求复活的人,有的小组甚至有2名学生要求复活。他们祈盼的眼神和超女们要求复活追求明星梦的愿望一样真挚、一样强烈。我没有理由不答应。
第三节课改成了复活赛。为了不让总决赛选手过多,我狠心只给他们三个复活名额,并且宣布三名复活选手将和第一轮最后一名PK,四人中只有一人晋级。我分明感到他们的失望,但失望却激发了他们的热情,复活赛一开场就十分精彩,后面的五位个个神采飞扬,妙语连珠。这是我没想到的。我认为他们能脱稿已经很不容易了,没有想到这些农村孩子不但能脱稿,而且神态大方,手势得体。教室里一片寂静,只有他们的激情在回荡,回报他们的是阵阵掌声。我的眼睛突然有些湿润,为这些孩子们的表现,为这迟来的活动。
总决赛终于拉开了帷幕。第一环节,6位选手每人说一句话,为自己加油,为自己拉票。
有以励志开头的――“My dream,glaring color of light,“he said,“I am YangRongFei 01,athletes,believe me,won’t let you down.(我的梦想,闪耀着彩色的光,我是01号选手杨荣菲,相信我,不会让你们失望!)”。选手们个性张扬,我型我秀。英语演讲稿件很多选手是借助网络在线翻译完成的。为了让同学们能听懂,他们往往先说完英语后,自己又用中文翻译一遍。
第二环节,演讲比赛。虽然个别学生由于看到评委老师在场,有些胆怯,但比赛还是精彩纷呈。
第三环节,即兴演讲。每位选手选一个对手,两人就同一话题发表见解,胜者晋级下一轮,败者则有可能被淘汰。谈到“I mportant class division of the view(对划分重点班的看法)”,张宏发以“Environment edification(环境造就人)”入题,简短的一段话体现了一个“理论―事例―观点”的清晰思路。谈到“好老师的标准”,两人都提到好老师要关注学生内心世界,促使不同程度的学生发展,观点深刻。我原先预想即兴演讲会很难,有可能冷场。但这段比赛却被精彩和理性挤占无余。三位败者发表感言,一位会神奇复活。杨淼同学竟动情地流了泪……
最后,当张宏发等三位同学戴上同学们自制的金冠、银冠、铜冠时,全场一片沸腾。“想唱就唱,唱得响亮……”李宇春的歌声回荡在教室,学生们久久不愿离去。
【案例反思】
1.导致课堂沉闷的不是我们的学生,而是教师没有真正替学生想:什么样的教学才是他们想要的。当我们大喊“学生为主体”的新课标的口号,努力要求改革教学时,其实我们没有真正地做到这一点。现在想来,英语课堂为什么如此冷落,而“超级女声”等娱乐节目让学生如痴如醉,原因很简单,因为他们想到了观众,充分尊重了观众。教学完全是为学生服务的,我们却没有真正替学生想过,他们想要怎么学。当真正做到了“一切为了学生”时,我们的教学还会如此艰难吗?
