《国家中长期教育改革和发展规划纲要(2010-2020 年)》明确指出:“注重因材施教。关注学生不同特点和个性差异,发展每一个学生的优势潜能。”2011 年9 月,北京市八一中学英语组经区教科所批准,承担了区级重点课题“初中英语分层教学实验研究”,推进分层教学、走班制、学分制、导师制等教学管理制度改革。我校初中英语组在参考国内外分层教学的理论及实践成果后,以素质教育理论为指导思想,根据目前初中学生英语学习的现状――英语成绩和掌握程度存在差异、两极分化严重、学习兴趣不浓,提出并开展了“动态分层”教学法的研究实验。“动态分层教学”要求老师根据大纲和教材要求,针对不同层次班级学生的接受能力,设计不同层次教学目标,提出不同层次的学习要求,给予不同层次的辅导,进行不同层次的强化训练和检测,从而使各类学生分别在各自的起点上选择不同的速度,获取数量、层次不同的知识,培养不同层次的能力,促进不同层次的学生达到教学目标的教学。

2012 年9 月,2015 届英语组面临更大的挑战,根据学校的计划和安排,初一年级在十三个班开展英语分层教学。为了有效进行英语分层教学管理,2015 届初一英语组进行了以下尝试:

一、探讨分层教学中全组集体备课和分层组备课相结合的新模式

集体备课是对教学工作进行全程优化的教研活动,使教师在教学的认知、行为上向科学合理的方向转化。自我钻研、集体研讨、分工主备、教后反思的过程,就是教师专业发展的过程,更有利于教师在高起点上发展。2015 届初一英语组成立至今,高度重视集体备课活动,针对新课标对英语教师的要求,在备课中重视研究新课标与旧课标的差异和新课标的解读,重视教学策略的研究和针对学情的分层教学的研究;认真学习北京市八一中学初中学科分层教学管理制度,明确英语教师在分层班的职责;明确本学期英语备课组的重点备课方向和教学进度,制定合理的教学计划,探讨分层教学中全组集体备课和分层组备课相结合的新模式。

以《2015届初一英语组七年级上教学计划》中的“具体工作”为例,教师在开学初就明确了本学期英语组的工作内容和重点:

1. 研究分层走班制的管理,在动态中加强学生的管理,构建科学合理、适合校情的管理体系,形成教育教学的良性循环,行政班和教学班的管理齐头并进,相互补充。完成课本九个单元的授课内容,全面提高学生听、说、读、写的能力。

2. 以教学班为单位,做好班级学生的思想工作,及时了解和把握学生的学习、心理变化,发挥心理咨询室的作用,及时疏导和解决问题,让学生在积极愉悦的氛围中快乐学习。

3. 针对小升初,进行教学评价和测试的研究。

4. 完成《快捷英语》听力的测试和讲解,并将此项成绩纳入过程性评价。

5. 开展精品课的研究,通过备课、授课、研课、评课、课后反思等环节提升教师的教学教育能力。

6. 试卷命题的研究和反思(试卷的出题思路、考试题型和分值、试卷中的典型错误、试卷中反映出的教学整体状态和应对措施等)。

7. 全体英语教师参加基本功大赛,提升教学能力,优秀教师参加区基本功大赛。

8. 全体教师参加选修课和校本教研的研究。

9. 开展多样的学科活动和学法指导,培养学生的学科兴趣。

为了分析教材的知识结构,寻找教学与各层次学生的认知水平的结合点,初一英语备课组分层制定教学目标,选择教学策略,确定教学方式,制定了分层备课的任务安排表和备课记录表。

二、制定明确的备课内容和任务安排,固化教学成果;形成过程性记录、课件、课例研究和优秀教案

2015 届初一英语组每次备课都有主备人,全组教师充分挖掘和分析教材,并通过各种手段搜集各种有用信息。全组备课的重点是备三维目标、备学生活动、备有效作业;分层备课范围不仅仅局限于教学设计、教学方法等,还在教学的有效性、教学机智、教师语言、语言拓展、课外语言学习指导等层内讨论,在教学反思、教学环节的更改、教材的新解读等方面扩大教学思路。平时非备课时间,组内教师经常在学生情况(包含作业、课堂纪律、课堂表现、课堂准备等),特定的教学任务、教学活动、教学策略、作业或作品、阅读等方面进行交流和分享。大家通过集体备课,构建和完善教育资源共享及教学成果交流平台,加强课题研究,力求教学模式的创新。当所有备课人讨论完毕后,主备课人负责整理和总结,并按照备课要求形成文字、形成集体智慧的结晶。

在集体备课中,本组每一位教师都积极参与讨论,发表自己的独到见解,一起解决教学中的问题,一起探究如何把教学内容落到实处,讨论如何提高课堂教学效率,如何突破重难点,不断提高教学能力,大大缩短了分层教学的摸索阶段。

三、开展精品课的研究,提升教师的教学教育能力

但是,目前我国外语教学的评价方式过多地依赖终结性评价(如期中、期末考,中考和高考等),把考试成绩作为衡量学生外语能力的唯一标准。这种不科学的评价方式不仅扼杀了学生学习的积极性和创造性,而且给教学带来了极大的负面影响,使中学英语教学走进了应试的怪圈。本文试图对初中英语教学中滥用测试的现象探源及提出应对措施等方面加以初步讨论。

一、中学英语教学滥用测试的现象及其严重后果

测试作为教学评价的一种方式,是评价学生掌握与运用英语知识和能力的必不可少的手段。语言学习离不开语言测试,素质教育也不排斥考试。但是,日常教学中的测试在测试目的、内容和方法上存在在许多问题和误区,随意性很大,很不规范。滥用测试现象严重,主要表现在以下几方面。

1. 以考代教,以考代学,滥用测试

测试作为检查和评估教学效果的手段,不能取代或冲击日常的课堂教学这个根本。然而,有些教师却本末倒置,以考代讲,以考代练,把生动活泼的语言教学变成枯燥乏味的应试训练。学生学习英语的过程已成不变的“三步曲”,即上课听讲――课后练习――考试过关。于是各种考题、试卷泛滥成灾,学生为应试而疲于奔命,其后果只能是将学生引向迷途,使他们对英语学习的目的和方法产生误解,以为学好英语的方法就是多考、多做模拟题,这种教学方法下培养出来的学生只能是高分低能

2. 考非所教,考非所学,目的不明

日常教学中运用测试的目的的是检查教学过程中学生基础知识的掌握情况和基本技能的形成情况。命题应依据课程标准和所学教材,命题范围应为本阶段所教内容,做到“学什么,考什么”。然而,有些单元测试仿照中考题型结构,能力题比重过大,只有几道选择题与所学内容有关,这种脱离教学内容的测试是造成中学英语学习成绩两极分化的重要原因之一。

3.数量偏多,质量偏差

就初一年级来说,除教科书及配套的练习册、阅读训练、单元测试外,许多学生还会再订一些课外练习册,并且教师还会再订二、三套,这样,初一英语每单元用的练习试卷四至五套。平时每周考二至三次,复习期间一天一测,整个学期下来,至少也做八十至一百多张英语试卷。初一已经如此,初二、初三就更不用说了。更为严重的是,有些学校把市场上销售的考题,不加选择地引进“课堂”。这些试题不仅缺乏针对性,题型单调,语言知识考查“偏”、“难”、“怪”,搞得学生晕头转向,而且许多试卷无磁带录音,无法进行听力测试。更有甚者,有的试题简直就是互相抄袭,粗制滥造,质量低劣。

二、原因分析

传统的学校教育、教学评价多以终结性评价为主,评价方法单一,甚至出现笔试一统天下的局面,只看结果,不重过程,不能全面考查一个人的综合素质和水平,很难体现学生的自主性和主体地位。面对制度,教师们感到无奈。造成上述滥用测试现象原因很多,但总的来说,主要有以下两点:

1. 现行的评价方式和考试制度

在许多学校,衡量学生学业成就的唯一标准是分数;同样,考试分数也作为衡量教师工作好坏、教学水平高低的尺度,并与教师的职称评定、评优及晋升等切身利益直接挂钩。于是,为了追求较高分数,教师被迫加大作业量,搞题海战术,这挫伤、遏制了教师进行教学改革的积极性。

2. 教师自身原因

首先是教师缺乏教改动力,不敢去尝试改革;其次,教师自身素质偏低,在教学方面习惯于信赖教参、试卷等现成材料,以为书上的、试卷上的就是可靠的,自编试题还较麻烦。而更多的人则相信“勤能补拙”,所以争着去挤时间多解题。他们以为多做试题,学生成绩就会好。为此,许多教师把测试当成教学的一项主要任务,他们错误地认为学生的分数越高,英语水平就越好,只重视笔试,而忽视综合能力。

三、应对措施

针对目前滥用测试的严重现象,笔者认为应在改革评价制度上下功夫。随着《英语课程标准》的实施,评价制度的改革势在必行。一种能激励学生学习兴趣和自主学习能力发展的多元化的科学评价体系必将建立。新的评价体系将既重视结果,又关注过程,尤其是重视形成性评价在教学过程中的作用和地位,体现学生在评价中的主体地位。新的评价体系主张:

1. 评价方式多样化

做到测试与练习、口试与笔试、课内与课外、百分制与等级制或评语制结合。面对英语课程的具体特点,根据学生学英语的具体状况,合理选用不同的方法。在理解的基础上,教师应不存偏见,以开放的心态、平等的态度综合运用不同类型的方法,努力获取学生的全面信息,使评价方法使用时有相当的灵活性,从而使评价的作用和效益最大化。

2.评价内容全面性

不仅要对学生的语言知识和能力及智力开发的发展作出评价,而且要对学生学习过程中的表现以及所反映出的情感、态度、策略等非智力因素作出评价。根据《英语课程标准》,评价尤其是要包括以下五方面的内容,即语言技能、语言知识、情感态度、学习策略、文化意识。

3.评价主体多元化

根据英语教学的特点,应鼓励学生、同伴、教师和家长共同参与评价。应注意教师的评价、学生的自我评价与学生之间互相评价相结合。改变传统评价中由教师说了算、学生处于被评价地位的评价方式,构建自我评价、同学(小组)评价、教师评价、家长及社区人士参与评价的整体评价体系,充分发挥各自的评价功能。

4.规范测试管理,确保命题质量

应根据英语课程标准和教学内容,科学地、规范地设计每份试卷,控制试题的难度。必须严格控制考试次数,减轻学生学习负担。淡化测试的评判作用,强化其激励、诊断和发展功能,严禁按考分排列名次,严禁将考分用于各种招生广告等。

总之,要改革和完善测试的内容和结构,保证其科学性,注重其实效性;同时要积极思考并参与新课程背景下的评价改革,在教学实践中探索能促进学生健康成长和教师发展的教育评价新模式,充分发挥评价促进发展的功能,使评价的过程成为促进教学发展与提高的过程。
